The wig should be cleaned after wearing it for a period of time. One is to keep it clean to protect the wig and prolong its life. The other is to let your natural hair and scalp breathe and protect the scalp and hair.
Wigs are generally cleaned once 1-2 week or so.
- Use a special comb for wigs (anti-static) to comb the wig smoothly. It is better to use a wide-tooth comb. When combing the wig, use the method of oblique combing. Straight combing is not allowed, and the action should be soft. If your wig is long, comb the wig first and then wash it so as to avoid tangle and break the hair. If it is curly hair, except for the bangs and the straight top of the head, other places with curls are best to straighten out by hand, not a comb.
- Soak the wig in cold or lukewarm water (water temperature 25~30℃ or 77~86℉) for 5-10 minutes. The time should not be too long, otherwise the hair will fall off easily.
- It must be washed by hand, and the washing machine cannot be used, otherwise the wig will be damaged.
- Use shampoo and conditioner, which keeps your wig hair soft and shiny, gently rub along the hair, do not scrub hard, just gently grab the hair with your hands.
- After rinsing it with clean water, place the washed wig on the wig holder, use a dry towel (2-3 pieces) to absorb the water on the wig. Never twist it by hand or spin it with a washing machine. Avoid sunlight exposure and high temperature blow drying.
- When the wig is dry to 90%, gently grab the hair with your hand, and then use the special comb for wigs to comb the wig smoothly (the action must be gentle). Someone might make the mistake of combing the wig immediately after cleaning it, not knowing that doing so will inadvertently damage the wig. It's best to take care of it after it 90% dries.
If your wig is dry, frizzy, or knotted, don't pull it hard to prevent breaking the hair, you can spray some hair care serum on it, and then comb it again. It will be much better. But it's best not to wash and comb it too much, because it will damage the wig a lot.
Virgin human hair wig does not need to be cleaned too frequently. If you wear it daily, it is recommended to clean it once a week in summer and once two weeks in winter.
