Lace Cut Tips

Lace Cut Tips

1. Braid the natural hair, put on the cap, adjust the hair and the cap so that the wig can be worn on the head smoothly. Wearing a cap is to reduce the friction of the base of the wig against the natural hair and reduce hair breakage.

2. Put the wig on your head and adjust the straps on the back of the wig until the wig fits perfectly on your head. Standing in front of a mirror, adjust the wig again until the hairline of the wig is slightly in front of the natural hairline. The lace section should extend a few inches beyond your natural hairline.

3. To secure the lace, smooth the lace over the forehead making sure the base of the lace is even with your natural hairline, the front lace needs to be cut, but not too close to the hairline as the hair will start to fall out: Front lace Needs to be cut 1 - 2 inches from the hairline. The extra length is to keep the hairline from falling out when the lace starts to fray and needs to be cut.
4. Use the tip of a comb or other tool to part the hair above the ear, then secure the hair with some clips, leaving a small tab of the wig over the ear. Then use a pair of scissors to cut along the shape of the ear and remove the cut piece of lace, this helps the wig lay flat when cut and installed.

5. Make small incisions in the lace toward the hairline in several points, this creates small sections that are easier to cut and prevents broken or overly jagged edges. Pull the lace taut, and cut each section slowly along your hairline so you don't accidentally cut it into your hairline. During cutting, try to avoid cutting perfectly straight lines, as they will not look natural.
